Your website home page is often the first pot of call for anyone visiting your website. From a sales and marketing perspective there are a number of things that you should have on your home page to help convert visitors to customers.
In this article we’ll focus on three of the more important ones to ensure that not only do you have a great looking website, but one that sells as well.

1. Strong call to action

A call to action is simply an instruction to your audience to provoke an immediate response, usually using an imperative verb such as “call now to find out more” or “request a quote now”.

Structured correctly a good call to action will create a sense of urgency that encourages your visitors to act on your offer.
As the Call to Action is designed to get your visitors to act, they should be designed to contrast with the rest of the page. They should be one of the things your visitors remember and you should have several to help guide and educate visitors about your company and products.

2. A data/email collection form

It takes time and effort to get a visitor to your site, so once they’re there you don’t want them to leave with no way of contacting them in the future.

This can be as simple as a mailing list sign-up, but will be much more effective when combined with an effective call to action such as “sign up today and receive a free download”. Such a call to action will give your visitors an incentive to hand over their email address/contact details.

3. Links

Once you’ve got visitors to your site you want to make sure they can find what they’re looking for. Having links and buttons to content on your site will make it easy for your visitors to navigate their way around your content.

These links could include menus, category searches, filters or buttons linking to specific content or articles.
